Our Roots Are Local And Deep.
The 3 green leather chairs were new in 1958. That is when Dr. Henry Stewart founded the practice in downtown Christiansburg. After his retirement in 1990 Virginia locals Drs Becky Mann and Scott Mann acquired the practice. It had 1 location and 1 staff member and 3 worn out green chairs! Salem resident Dr Jon Gudeman joined the team in 2001. Currently Invision has 2 state of the art locations with 4 optometrists and 20 staff. Over the years patients look to us for leading eye care. Technology is combined with a consistently high level of customer service and attention to detail. We got rid of those chairs!
Invision optical boutiques have developed quite a local reputation. Stop by for a unique experience with a large selection of beautiful and exciting fashion eyewear. Whether you are into fashion, art or just want cool glasses, Invision has a style for you. State licensed opticians give expert service and advice. For eyewear, we look to New York, Atlanta, D.C. & Europe, then bring these ideas back home for you. We carry frames from Denmark, Paris & Italy. Check out the Invision boutiques for eyewear you will not find elsewhere.
Our Community Has Been Good To Us
We also value being part of our local communities. Invision was honored as the recent recipient of the City of Salem “Green Award” for a beautification and landscape project. The public voted Invision 1st place for “best bedside manner” in the New River Valley by readers of “Our Health” magazine. Roanoker Magazine readers voted us “Best of” for Optical shops. We thank all the people who voted.
Our Hearts Are For The Nations.
Behind the press headlines it has been our joy to quietly provide complimentary eye care and glasses for local school children. We help kids in Salem, Roanoke and the New River Valley through our trusted network of friends, teachers, school nurses, principals and administrators.
Dr Jon Gudeman has provided vision care on many mission trips. Sudan, Congo, India, Kashmir, and Yemen. His son Josh served with him in a Philippines mission trip. That is Dr G’s picture on the Homepage. Dr’s Becky & Scott and their family have participated on several medical mission trips. They have a heart for an orphanage in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua. OrphanNetwork works there as well. Dr Scott and son Michael have made 2 similar trips to Cartagena, Colombia. Michael speaks espanol much better than his dad. Medical, dental and eye care teams served displaced refugees. Click the countries to see our facebook images for these trips.
We have meet many local people doing good things all over the world. We realize there is much that can done close to home as well. We want to hear about your works. Tell us when we see you.
