Questions and Answers about Eye Care

If your questions aren’t answered here, please don’t hesitate to email or phone our offices.

How long does it take to do an exam?

Start to finish plan on about 60 minutes.

Will my pupils be dilated, and, if so, will I be able to drive afterward?

We generally dilate for all comprehensive eye exams. Often we use a milder drop that does not affect focusing; so most people can drive afterward but feel free to bring a driver if you prefer.

What Eye Conditions Does Invision Treat?

  • Blurry vision
  • Eye infections
  • Eye injuries
  • Ocular allergies
  • Dry eye
  • Cataracts
  • Glaucoma
  • Macular degeneration
  • Retinal detachment

Do you have to do that air puff test, and what is it for, anyway?

We do the air puff test for all exams to check the amount of pressure inside your eye.  This helps us check for glaucoma. We use a new instrument that’s fully automated and uses a softer, gentler puff than older instruments.

Will my information be kept private?

Yes! We will only release your personal information per your written request, using a signed records release form.

How often do I need to have an eye exam if I wear contacts?

A contact lens is a medical device, which rests directly on the cornea, one of your body’s most delicate and sensitive structures. The fit of the contact lens or the integrity of the cornea may change over time, and close supervision is required to ensure safe, healthy, long-term contact lens wear.  For this reason, a yearly contact lens evaluation is required to keep your contact lens prescription up to date.  This evaluation involves separate tests from the eye exam and has a separate fee.  The evaluation fee also covers trial lenses, if needed, and any follow up visits for 90 days to ensure you have clear comfortable vision and healthy eyes.  First time wearers also receive one on one training with our staff for contact lens insertion, removal and proper care.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions about fees.
