Have a Heart Graphic

Each year around Valentine’s Day the Christiansburg Invision team celebrates this love-filled holiday by sharing the love with our patients, as well as the American Heart Association. On Saturday February 13th from 9 am to 1 pm optometrists Drs Becky and Scott Mann are offering $1 vision screenings. Dr. Becky explains, “Many children don’t get the regular eye care they need. We offer our ‘Have a Heart Vision Screenings’ to provide a simple and nearly-free way to support their eye-health.” The giving doesn’t stop there; the $1 donation that participants are asked to make goes directly the American Heart Association. This event is open to love birds and sweethearts of all ages, even if they are not current Invision patients. These screenings are fast way to be reassured that you and your family’s vision are healthy. They are also a great way to support an important cause that impacts so many.

According to the Center for Disease Control Cardiovascular disease (CVD)— heart disease is the leading killer of women and men in the United States. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a risk factor for heart problems such as heart attacks and strokes. Dr Becky notes “Eye doctors recognize that hypertension is risk factor for many vision threatening eye diseases, including blockages of blood vessels inside the eye.” Heart disease impacts so many lives and also has a connection to eye health. It is imperative we all work together to educate ourselves about the risk factors for heart disease and take steps to lessen our own personal risks.

The Invision team wants patients to have healthy eyes but also hopes patients have an understanding of how to keep their entire body as healthy as possible. We are excited to support healthy vision, healthy hearts, and giving back! Will you “Have a Heart” with us this year and join us for $1 vision screenings? Appointments are helpful but not necessary, you can call 381-2020 to set up and appointment.
